"And here we are sir, a whole chicken. Buon appetite."
"Uh thank you he said."
The chicken was steaming and glistening, one of the best things he had seen in his life. The taste was like every good bite of food he'd had in his life. Nothing before had been worth it to eat now he felt. He should just eat this for the rest of his life. He asked for a menu again, and checked the price with the waiter. He was worried this would blow his whole vacation budget.
"Yes its 15 dollars, that is correct sir. You came at a lucky time for chicken Tuesdays."
He gave the waiter a twenty, and left feeling invigorated, full of salt, fat and protein. He couldn't swim, but he could find that girl.
She couldn't have gotten far, and besides, she looked like she was walking away, so she'd have to return. It was getting to be dusk, which he liked. He wanted to tell the girl about it, that in pictures you can't tell if its dawn or dusk.
Or maybe she'd find that stupid.
He practiced things he would say. "I saw you from the chicken place, man best chicken ever."
"Would you want to get a chicken with me? Its chicken Tuesdays!"
He shook his head, she probably had people hitting on her all the time at the beach.
He was looking down at his feet in the sand so as not to trip. When he looked up, he saw her.
