In her hand was a pistol.

All that good feeling of salt, fat, and protein was gone now. He tried to hold his piss in.

"You following me?"

"No!"

He recognized her. She was the girl from the
gas station
.

"Fancy seeing you here. Don't tell me you and I happened to arrive here by chance."

"I swear. I was just. I've been. I'm not that other guy. I'm not Steve. I'm Blake."

She thought for a bit. Then she decided he was telling the truth.

"Why did I think you were Steve then. How do you know Steve?"

"He's the fitness instructor right?"

"Yeah. But how do you know him."

"He stayed at my hotel."

"Why did I think you were him then?"

"I stole his face."

"Like Faceoff?"

"Yes. Just like that."

She put the gun away. Blake was surprised that she didn't judge him for what he had done. For all she knew he could've killed him.

He thought about bringing up the chicken. But the words didn't come out. The delicious meal no longer felt important now.

"Are you staying at the Seaside, too?"

"Yeah. That's why I came here. I've been saving up for months."

"I love it here. I don't think I feel comfortable anywhere else now."

Blake took a look around. "Yeah i can see how you might feel that way. This place kind of sucks you in."
