Grow Up

as reply to an argument

Sometimes, but more and more lately, the kid would take a long break during lunch. People assumed always he was working somewhere else, he was clean shaven and young so people trusted him.

He liked walking to the pier, in many ways it was better than being at the stupid hotel, but if he was more honest with himself, it was to stay in public.

Some people had agorophobia, but the kid had the opposite, he didn't like being alone. He felt exposed, it reminded him of the silence of the night where they snuck up on those guys. They had no idea.

He felt strongly that no one can sneak up to you in public.

The walk there was a little stressful, the side walk was not usually busy and it was close to a road, but he kept his hood up and walked like he was bigger than he was.

At the pier he could feel himself relax. Seagulls called, and the sun always felt better there, the sound of waves would come back to him. He also liked there seeing kids in groups. Younger than him even they'd be all around talking one of them exclaiming loudly a bold truth that he likely heard from his older brother.

Either way he liked the confidence and wished he'd never grow up.
