The Phone Seaside Rest

as reply to it was a small price to apy

The
Seaside Rest
was quiet. Jade thought too quiet. She saw where the kid had gone. Writing it all down, in sprawling notes, in between tourist's questions.

She hated the tourists. They only seemed to do two things. They were either interested in everything, poking their noses around, and taking her pamphlets or more messing up her pamphlets. Or they wanted everything to be the same of where their from. "At home I use three pillows." "At home I wash a towel every time I use it."

"Well this isn't your home." Jade wanted to scream.

But she just wrote. It sort of looked like she was taking notes, or noting their questions. The tourists always liked that. Felt like they were being listened too. Sometimes they'd ask, "What are you writing."

And Jade would always reply "Oh just my shopping list." Then she'd give them a wink. People can take a wink anyway they like, and they always would smile.

It was weird they weren't back yet. Made her think something else was happening.

"YO room key lady. Where you keep dem towels."

She looked up surprised.

"I can call room service?"

"Make it a fast ting yeah?"

She picked up the phone.
