The Front Door

Jade never thought of herself as attractive. She didn't have a partner. But she didn't really care. There was life in other things. In most things, in all the pages she wrote she found things more important than any love.

She wanted to tell Blayne that, ask why he was so stressed. She thought at first it was probably some girl. A tattooed girl he met down by the docks. But something about how he moved around the hotel made her think differently.

He was too nervous. He smoked too much. Felt like he knew another shoe would drop like he was in charge of it dropping.

She hated him for that. Knowledge, and his youth. She wanted to yell at him to leave. She was glad the kid got out of here. It would just swallow you up staying here. Staying here, thats one thing she wished she did before the cane before any of this. Just kept moving.

She clicked the espresso button again and another poured out. She checked her monitor of the breakroom and Blayne was there with his head down. Then he got up, and went to the door.

Was he talking to someone now? Who could get in at this hour without coming through the front door.
