There was a time when Baka didn't act so hard. Didn't need to. His mom made him breakfast and he had to make sure to be home before the sun set.
Things were simpler back then. Get decent grades. Make sure not to hang out with the bad kids and everything would be fine. What did fine mean at the end of the tunnel? Hell did he know back then, but for a while he did things right.
It was his mom's death that changed everything. Suddenly everything he was doing was a mistake. There was nobody there making a home to return to. He was given a room and a bed, but it never felt like home.
He didn't feel at home out on the streets with his new friends, but it was at least distracting. He couldn't stand being alone with his own thoughts in that room. Much rather would be in a constant argument with his hood friends. Or in a real argument with some opps. This is how Baka became Baka. After doing right no longer felt right.
