To Happen

as reply to on her way to visiting a high school friend

Life was good with the friend. Except he wasn't happy. It had been 4 years of schooling, then 5 more years, and finally another two or three. At this point he was just in it for the pay check but that never came.

Or at least not yet. But it would likely be next year. So at least he'd be rich while he was sad.

He had never thought of his life like this. He made sure the house was clean enough. It wasn't like he was into McKayla, so he didn't want to give her that impression, but at the same time he didn't want to give her the impression he was a scrub.

He vacuumed the hardwood floor, even though it probably needed a mop he didn't have the time.

He looked at him self in the mirror. Slightly balding. But he still had a decent amount of hair. Enough to cover up anything that had left so far. Maybe if he dimmed the lights. He tried and then went back to normal, he didn't want her to think anything.

Not like he'd say no, just that he wasn't really looking for anything serious. Just wanted to exist, didn't want to get married or anything. Not like anything was going to happen.
