"Shit" He looked at the clock then his watch.
He was supposed to meet Johnny in like 15 min, and it was the other side of town.
He checked his phone, and the location Johnny had sent him.
If he walked fast he thought, maybe he could make it.
He looked around the cafe, and he felt like he knew these people. Didn't want to leave, wanted to exist with them. All the possibilities he thought.
But he had to go. He asked for a tea togo. He needed something some liquid and it was cold outside.
The tea was too hot to drink yet, but he walked as fast as he could. It was also too hot to hold, so he had to switch hands, and how he held it.
"Fuck." He regretted the tea after a sip burned the roof of his mouth. He took the top off to make it drinkable.
He walked about 5 min before trying another sip. Tolerable, so he drank a few big gulps. It was now a walkable amount of tea. And so he huffed it across town. Just down a large road.
At every crossing a voice said, "Walk sign across Grand River. Grand River"
He always liked that, Grand River.
