felt scary

as reply to Grand River

The voice belonged to a middle aged sounding man. A calm man who never waivered to his emotions. They had somehow made the voice sound calm but not like a yoga instructor. but also not like a robot.

"Grand River, walkside. Time to cross."

This sentence he heard over and over again as he made his way to Johnny. The tea was almost gone now. The entire time he had been worried about burning his hand. Now the drink was just warm. He could throw it on his face and so long as his eyes were closed he wouldn't be hurt.

As he approached the destination he thought about his car parked in the free street. It felt so far from him now. Like he couldn't keep a tab on it. He worried that something would happen to it. The other cars that had been parked there were more janky and vandalized. Max had a luxury, black SUV. Maybe he should've just paid for parking rather than trying to save a few bucks. It had been that man on the street who had convinced him to go for the free parking. The few dollars Max wouldn't have minded parting with. But disappointing that man. For some reason that felt scary to him.
