He still tried to remember their name though. If he'd see them again for whatever reason in the hall he would say hi to them and if he remembered, then their name. This is something one of his bosses had stressed: the importance of one's name.

 He had thought names were a quack. That it was silly to place so much meaning in a name. Why did it matter if someone's name meant 'hero' or 'patience'. It was just a name after all. Not something they achieved. Instead, a mere aspiration given by their parents.
