There was something calming about the room. The clothes tumbling in the dryer, and his in the washer. There was a limit, and Howard looked up, about 40 minutes.
"Do you have a 6 of hearts." He asked Howard.
"No, go fish." The man said.
They never exchanged names even.
This game felt more intense, like he was playing for something. Different than the frat party, but different than when he'd played it as a kid. This guy wanted to win.
He was angry that he had to draw up on the go fish, but then smirked when he got a match for his card.
"You got any hearts." Howard asked.
The guy sadly gave him his 6.
"You got a 5 of clubs."
"No, go fish." Howard said.
He even was starting to feel on edge, like how a cowboy must have felt in a saloon. Any moment a fight could break out he felt.
But the noises of the washers and dryers brought him back to reality.
There was another washer going, its time almost up, but it didn't seem like the other guys. Maybe there was someone else here among the rejects he thought. Maybe they'd play go fish?
"Did you say you had a two of hearts?"
"No Go fish."
