It's not often I turn the football off before the game has ended, but I can't watch my team get comprehensively beaten on Friday Night football. Call me a sore loser if you wish, but eight goals to one favouring the opposition in the third quarter were too much for this avid football follower to take.
It feels like my team has gone back to the days when the opposition team would open up our defence, and it would rain goals. When you're on the losing side when this happens, you cannot do much but sulk. And that is what I am doing.
We are one-third of the way through the season, and it is now a possibility that my team is dropping away. After three premierships in the last four years, I was hoping that their good form would continue and that we could remain in contention for another premiership this year. At this stage, this seems highly unlikely.
I shouldn't be down on my team, as they have done exceptionally well in recent years. I should be satisfied with the success to date and understand that there will always be a downside with all the upsides. But it is so hard to watch a game you love when your team is being beaten so bad.
