Was Watching

A small part of him felt like he was in a video game. He felt freed by this but frightened at the intensity. That if he got hit by a car nothing would happen. But he had to make it home.

He did make it home. Unscathed it was only a small walk away. Now he was home and he had no idea what to tell Mary Beth.

What had he been doing? He thought stalking someone he’d spent their shared account on both things so she could be mad. But instead she was just right where he left her. He’d probably only been gone for 50 min. Maybe she didn’t even watch his screen. Only if he messaged her.

If he died would she know? The thought crossed his mind. She was still knitting and watching. Show, he face lit up every so often when a scene changed color.

He waved at her and jumped up and down. His mic was muted but he still yelled her name. No reaction. Two walls and she couldn’t hear. She wasn’t wearing headphones but when he stepped outside he could hear her speakers blasting what ever she was watching.
