Nerds.

I wouldn't call myself a cinephile. But when I watch movies I act like a funny fellow, a nerd.

I read Wikipedia about the movie - before, during and after the movie.
I watch Jeremy Jahns Review of the movie - before and after.
I watch several other YouTube review, explanations, endings explained.
I watch Pitch Meetings of the movie. By the way, if you don't watch pitch meetings, you should stop that shameful thing and go enjoy one of the best content out there on the internet.
Then I find someone to gist with about the movie.

I'm sorry, but I do all of the above.

I'm rounding off Lupin (Netflix) and I'm reminded of my nerdy behaviour. I must confess Assane Diop is a much more crazy nerd than I am, and his choice of obsession in Arsene Lupin is a weird one.

Anyways, unlike Diop, I'm not a nerd because I want to act like a character. I nerd about movies because I want a full experience of the movie. At least that's the lie I tell myself.

LOL! You and my brother are identical in this respect. To the point where I thought I was the odd one not to know the name of a producer for a movie I am watching.
I think most of us here are nerds to be honest.

I only do this for movies or TV series that make it into my all-time favorites list. Even then, I don't go to this extreme. I may watch the DVD commentary or watch some behind-the-scenes footage. I eschew deep dives to free up time for more new content.

I agree with Keni that we are all nerds. Just have different lanes in which we nerd within.
