Work for others

I have done an array of tasks for people over time. And I enjoyed doing it. The interesting thing is that I realized how much I learnt from my mistakes when I am helping someone else.

One of the most common things I did for others was showing them how to outsource their workload. Many people I know waste a lot of time doing things that they should be outsourcing. Particularly one-person entrepreneurs. There is just too much to do and it is essential that some of the work will be done/managed by a team. Else nothing can get done before burnout happens.

Another work I enjoy doing for others is design related. I found that I love working on logos. Having been very involved with creating my own logos, I love the idea of doing this type of work Flyers, FB ads and similar design work also appeals to me.

The one thing I found myself doing starting in 2020 was writing related work. I wrote a few blog posts and helped edit a couple of people's copy. It felt natural to me to edit writing work. It felt amazing to see practical applications of the daily writing habit I had developed in 2019. I had outsourced writing work a couple of times for myself and realized that I wasn't too impressed. Unlike design, it felt too personal to hire someone else to do the writing.

After COVID hit last year, I started doing some work with a few non-profit organizations. The role that I found myself taking on was that of project manager. During my different business ventures, I came to the conclusion that if I didn't learn how to mange my time and my to-do list, business was going to just be a lot of hard work. So I used the opportunity to learn project management and get better at it. I offered my time to help some folks in project management related work as well and I liked seeing things get done.

In all of the times I worked for other people's project, I was fully engaged and I loved it. Somehow, working with people and helping them with their dreams felt very fulfilling. Even more than working on my own business by myself. There is more pleasure with getting things done in numbers as opposed to just leading a project and hiring people to get my work done.

I think I want to build a system where I can continue to work for others. But more efficiently. I want to know where my mastery lies and how I can simplify the process of whatever it is I am helping with. I also want to limit the time I invest in others so I don't forget my health and my own goals. I also need to learn how to accept help from other people who may want to do the same for me.

come work for
Adagia
!

Lmao jk,

I also know how easy it is to work for somebody else. It's like you see their eyes light up and it's so easy to work to help them achieve a little bit of their dream.

when it comes to our own work we often struggle. I think this is because sometimes we secondguess whether we're working on the 'right' dream or not. This second guessing I do less of when i'm helping someone else because just the mere fact that I am making them feel better makes me feel good.. even if it might not be their dream next year or even tomorrow. Maybe this is how we need to treat ourselves.

this reminds me of the post

If Keni were to live to in maybe the 14th century, I’m having a feeling you’d have been an artist - a sculptor or something.

Lol maybe one day we might all get to work at Adagia.

Let's say work at. I like that better than work for. Cause if we somehow made it profitable in the future i'd want us all to be bosses

- You may have a good point... Just like it is easy to give other people advice and not give ourselves the same advice, things are clearer when we see them from outside.

 - I never considered sculpture or anything like it ever.... But I like Sir Abe as a philosopher. I think that makes sense in any century.
