Why Do Kids Make So Much Money?

Baby Shark Do Do Do Do Do Do.

The above-named song is the most viewed song on YouTube, it's amassed over 3.8 Billion views. Depending on which report you read, the owners of the song have made about $125M or $34M off the song.

Another maker of kids videos on YouTube, CoCoMelon, was acquired in 2020 for an undisclosed fee. CoCoMelon averages over 3.3 billion monthly views on youtube.

Why do kids make so much money? I know that's a wrong question, it's clickbait. The question is why and how is so much money made off kids entertainment?

My guess is, it's not new. Kids clothes have always been good business from time immemorial. But this new wealth coming out of kids entertainment in the internet age is really fascinating.

I'd be really surprised if there's any country on earth with an internet connection where Baby Shark isn't known.

We gotta crack what makes this industry tick.
Yeah these numbers surprise me as well. I just discovered this family that makes videos of themselves with their kids - something like Kardashians but for babies and it seems to be addictive for children. Apparently they made so much money, you can see the change in their home through the years.

I like the idea of cracking the code. I believe that it is much easier to entertain children than adults.... and from what I have seen from children watching YouTube, they like to replay things over and over again. Coming up with a catchy song may need professional talent though.

A tiny minority of people have always asymettrically made tons of money. The internet just has expanded the categories of people allowed in that minority.

so in this case regular kids or families.
