I stuffed up

It's not good when the utility company wants to turn off your electricity in the middle of winter to do some routine maintenance. It gets even worse when you don't tell your wife that it will happen, and she is working from home, just about to start a critical online meeting.

If I had given her some advance notice, she could have planned to rise a little earlier and made some other arrangements. But, by the time she found out the electricity was off, it was too late for a plan be, and it put her under the pump.

It is not often that I feel the wrath of my wife, but this was one of those days. She is always understanding and easygoing in nearly all situations, but when I stuff up and put her under pressure for work, I feel the consequences.

I had to work for five hours in freezing conditions for my penance, huddled over my iPad and phone, trying to get my work done.

My story sounds a little dramatic, and perhaps it is. However, I have the best wife a man could ever marry, and I am more than happy to wear the blame when I stuff up.
Funny phrases here: "under the pump" and "stuff up." The opening paragraph gave me a chuckle.

I like these phrases haha.

BTW, what about this situation made you need to be huddled over
iPad
trying to get work done? Did you have to let her use your laptop or something?

My computer is a desktop, so I had to use the iPad.

Okay I understand. The penance wasn't paid to your wife but rather in general for your stuffup
