I have a new example I can add to the Brandonian Doctrine episode where I emphatically ask "Where's my order??"
Amazon has spoiled us. One-click ordering. Package arrives the same day or the next day or within two days. Confirmation of the order, confirmation of shipping, even a map that tells you where the delivery driver is and how many stops before yours.
Earlier this month, I saw a Facebook ad for a device designed to provide therapy for the neck. This ad caught my attention because a device like this is consistent with my goal to undo the damage of sitting. Sitting at a computer for long periods of time is bad for many reasons, not least of which is the gradual forward head posture that puts pressure on the neck and spine. I've had some neck pain for the better part of a year, and I need to address it.
The device is designed to be used while you are lying down. You position your neck in a cradle, and there are three modalities of therapy. An air pump lifts up the cradle, which increases the arch of the neck and aligns with the natural curvature of the spine. Heat therapy helps stretch and loosen tight muscles and increase circulation. Electropulse stimulation relieves pain by stimulating nerve cell viability.
I decided to order the product on July 3rd. I received the confirmation from PayPal and never heard a thing from the seller. Last week, I called the contact number and was forwarded to a message system. I left a message and never got a response. I also sent an email to the company to ask for the status of my order. Again, no response. This week I initiated a request through PayPal to contact the seller for the status of my order. If I don't hear anything soon, I'm going to cancel the order.
Yes, Amazon spoiled me and I have higher expectations for vendors. I don't expect a quick turnaround, especially for a device that is likely coming from China. What I do expect is some modicum of communication. How about you confirm my order? How about you give me a timeframe of when I can expect it. How about you answer a paying customer when he asks a question. So where's my order??

Funny, Keni, that my gf has been making the opposite shift. She enjoys going to the store now instead of having the convenience of Amazon. She's not the type of person who's trying to maximize effeciency though... more into experiences and classifies shopping as a good experience lol
