For the past few months whenever I've drove into my city, San Fernando, I've been taking the long way out. Not much has changed yet but a huge construction project is in its first stages and I've been driving by every time to see the progress.
Whenever something changes in your surroundings there's a moment when you realise you can't remember how it used to be. The new-look might have only been around for a year or two but it's now the only clear image in your memory.
Driving by helps me preserve that old image while seeing the transition in the real-time. There's something exciting about change even when it changes an area that already had a great view. How will it change the city? Will it be a place I visit regularly? Will it become my default memory? There are so many places that didn't exist a few years ago that you can't imagine not having them around anymore. With every new project, there's a chance for that to happen again.

I'll listen to that album on repeat while I get settled into that new place. In the future whenever I hear a song from that album, I'll feel transported back.
