I am watching back to back episodes of shark tank the last few days.
It is a nice show to get ideas and to learn how to do things in business.
I wonder if I have the ability to stay calm and deliver a pitch if I had a product where I wanted an investor. There are some teenagers that are so articulate at pitching. I had no idea what a pitch was at that age. I think it is a great idea to expose children to varied skills - especially around finance and business early. They will only learn and get better with time.
Some of the people that show up have great ideas, millions in sale along with having a patent. I found myself with a notebook and pen to take notes on the best sellers. Having great sales and a USP with a patent seems to be a no-brainer most times. I also learnt how the sharks always ask about cost of good sold(landed) along with margins to see if it is a good investment. One new thing I noticed is the cost of customer acquisition. Having tried a few business ideas - I don't remember ever knowing that number.
In hindsight, there are many things I didn't do right in my past experiences. Now that I taking notes and learning a lot, I am feeling the urge to test my skills.

I'll send you some links of more 'boring' examples that I found helpful via email. Let me know what you think of them. I think they will also apply more to the type of business that you would want to run.
