The Asch Experiment

The Asch Experiment is one of psychology's oldest and most popular pieces of research. It's quite interesting.

You should click that link to watch the ~2 minutes video before reading my opinions.

Asch Experiment brings to the fore many things;
1) We are social beings. When we admit and when we choose to deny it.
2) We are all products of influence. Those who say "nobody influenced me" actually picked it up from somewhere ;)
3) Of course, there comes a time when you must stand your ground and let your influence come from your inside rather than your outside. Those cases are the exceptions, not the norm.
4) The best you can do is to be selective about your group. The internet has broadened what constitutes your "group" now.
5) You want a group of trusted influences such that on days when you make decisions based on gut, you can be rest assured your gut/instinct isn't corrupted yet.
Thank you for providing the link. Though I see the debate in William's original post, I hadn't seen the video before. It is both funny and scary at the same time. I like your summary too. Especially #4 and #5!!

I am also amazed at Sir Abe's memory. The amount of posts he reads and remembers who wrote what even from 9 months ago is crazy!

Curious the reply from the both of you. Who are your top five people who you talk to most right now? In what ways do they influence you?
