Staycationer Busch Light Airbnb Imogen Howe Jeannie Hammond

It was Tuesday when it began looking like it would rain forever. Maybe Jeannie wouldn't want to go to the beach this weekend after all.

Imogen hoped for this. "I want to see you in a bikini" Jeannie said, joking, with a
Busch Light
in hand. "You always wear one pieces. What's up with that?"

Imogen's last boyfriend was in high school. This felt so far away now. She'd only been with another guy in the darkest of the night.

"How come you don't get yourself a boyfriend?" she was often asked. She didn't know what was harder. Getting a boyfriend or moving out of town. Seeing as she was still failing on both counts, she assumed she was in no position to decide. "Whatever I do first, that'll be the easier one, I guess," she told herself.

Nobody asked when she would quit smoking. Her mom was gone and her dad was too drunk to care. Too many of her friends smoked for it to seem taboo, and what random stranger was going to tell her to quit. For now, she had no plans to quit, though she couldn't imagine herself still smoking in her 30s. That felt so far off though. Until she did the math.

"Final Friday this Friday huh?"

It was Dylan, one of the semi regulars. "I'll have to check it out."

"Yes. I got an
Airbnb
for the week."

"Oh? I thought you lived here."

"I do. Staycation."
