Discovery discovery

Writing is easy when it's an action of discovery.

It becomes difficult when it becomes the task that follows discovery.

Then it just a matter of time before we lose the willpower to write.

We like to cast people as superficial. As base creatures who want nothing more than recognition.

But if they wanted recognition they would just stick their head down and do the thing that gets them recognition.

But most can't. And this is a testament that they want something else.

In writing I think what they want is
discovery
. They want that feeling of discovering new things and old things they've forgotten. When writing is all about discovery then you no longer have to remember to write. You no longer feel the need to have to keep up the habit in a way where you can brag about it at a party. You just do it because it's your way of discovery. You write to discover just as you might walk to the kitchen to arrive there.

Don't write to share with others. You don't actually care that much about that.

Don't write to teach others. Again you don't really care.

But lean into what you do care about. Discovery.
