"Snow seems to be a thing of the past for
December
. I used to remember these storms that would lock us in for days as a kid."
We drove on slushy roads. Snow had fallen yesterday but the temperature today was already low enough that it wouldn't last.
"Do you miss that climate?"
"I do like
snow
. But I'm sure it's mostly because I've never had to deal with it."
I handed him a
ginger chew
candy before taking a piece for myself.
"Remember when we were at
MSU
? It was so nice to wake up to a snow covered campus. Treacherous to drive in but not dangerous to walk with those heated sidewalks."
I could hear the smacking noise of candy in his mouth. I became self conscious about the noise I was making.
I asked him, "what is it about snow that makes us feel so magical?"
"Hold your horses. It's not like that for everyone. I've known a lot of people in Cali who don't give a flying fuck about snow."
"They just never had those childhood experiences within snow."
"Yes. And after a certain age you just can't have them anymore."
Mmm I grunted while enjoying the last of my ginger chew candy.
