Here are a few writing goals.
1. Read enough to create some sort of science blog. I think dedicated to new technology, or old forgotten about technology and its possible applications. It would be fun to try to recreate the process of science writers, maybe try to interview a few people.
2. Read patents and just write about the interesting ones I've found, like why does google have so many to track eye movements.
3. Start my thesis, this year, well the next three months, pretty much I have to write a book of no more than 60,000 words. Something I have never done, so better get writing and practicing.
4. Turn a lot of these paragraphs, at least for intro into something nice to read. I work on anti aging field so a lot of the stuff could be interesting.
5. Write more comedic things like the onion, maybe with a science leaning.
6. Break out of the paragraph format.
Writing this out though makes me think I need to just focus on my thesis for the time being. But hopefully these other things as well as other things in general will keep me sane! Looking forward though to the months ahead.
compare that to the gut that is managed to consume it and you'll realize often... can't eat that much. not in this time.
But it's useful to state out because it allows you to finally see that though. Then it's up to the person to decide if they want to get real or stay asleep within the dream.
Focusing on the thesis, which is the thing you should technically be obsessed with since you are a student... but beyond prescriptions... the thing that would be most beneficial to be obsessed with since you are a phD student... seems like the good thing.
All the companies that survived -- not even the great or good ones -- are ones where the founders were obsessed with the domain that company was embedded into.
Could you imagine a founder being obsessed with a bunch of other things and trying to make their 'company' succeed?
That's like drinking, texting, and driving... but in life.
