The more I take public transport, the more I realize that it is too expensive.
Here is a snapshot of my self imposed commute to wework in DC.
If I take the metro:
Step 1
I need to walk for 10 minutes then take a bus to the metro station - $2.
OR
I have to drive myself to the metro station - $5 to park.
Step 2
I have to take the red line to downtown DC - $5 one way
Then I have to walk 3 blocks to arrive at my destination.
One way cost - $7 - $10 and a whole lot of walking.
So total cost a day is $14 - $20.
If I decide to drive my car to the destination:
Step 1
45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes of traffic
HORRIBLE time looking for street parking.
If I get lucky and find street parking - cost $5 for 2 hours.
(Total $15 - $20 for 6-8 hours of work)
If I use public parking - it is $17 for the same time.
So if you consider the wear and tear of my car, gas cost and time + $15 - $17 for parking, it is almost the same as option 1.
This public transport thing is not going to be feasible during this winter after all this cost. Time to think of plan C
