Untitled Shared at Feb 21, 2022 email funeral

The
email
arrived as a surprise.

For the sender had been dead for a year now.

Had they been dead for much longer, it wouldn't have invoked the same fear. He couldn't explain why this was.

But the fact that his friend had only been dead one year... not even that... made him suddenly feel like he was being solicited by something scarier than the dead.

Instead he suddenly got this crazy idea, what if he's still alive?

When his friend died, he never saw the evidence for it. It's not like he was the one who was called in to identify the body. Somebody closer was tasked with that duty. But when the
funeral
had been a closed casket, he always wondered why that was. He couldn't imagine that the figure had been disfigured or anything.

And that thought was just a moment's pondering. He never thought about it again until he read this email's subject line

Hello, friend

It was ready in a sardonic manner. Where friend was used sarcastically. Closed casket. Why? Had it all been a cover up? He was so afraid to click on the email. But he had to. As his finger was about to let go of the trackpack he heard three loud knocks against his door.
