Today, I had the song timber by Pitbull , featuring Ke$ha stuck in my head. It reminded me of a bar in East Lansing where you could get in if you were 18 on Wednesdays. It was a horrible place, the floor was always sticky, and you got two black x's drawn on your hands, that everyone immediately tried to wipe off. But the one thing it did have going for it, was a mechanical bull. Honestly now, I don't know who thought it was a good idea, but for us it was amazing.
I was horrible at it, and usually fell off immediately, but one friend was absolutely insane. She rode horses a lot so it made sense. There is a distinct memory of watching her ride a bull, people laughing about it, and in the background Keisha's voice belting out 'Its going down I'm yelling timber you better move you better dance', and all the while she didn't fall. Even through pitbulls raps, and the refrains. I remember thinking that was so funny.
So now when I think of this song, or see a mechanical bull I think of April, and despite being surrounded by Keishas voice, and incantations to fall, but she stayed up.
