I stopped watching the Academy Awards a long time ago. I have long believed that the Oscars are the purview of women and gay men. When I did watch it, I recorded it on my DVR so that I could fast-forward through most of it and catch any craziness that may occur during a live broadcast. After all, I need to stay up-to-date with the zeitgeist of the culture.
Apparently, I missed a humdinger of an event last night. All the headlines this morning are centering around an exchange between presenter Chris Rock and Will Smith. Chris made a joke about Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett appearing in G.I. Jane 2 since she shaved her head, and Will was none-too-pleased. Will actually walked up on stage and slapped Chris right in the face. He then sat back down and shouted back at him. The audio was dropped out for the US broadcast, but leave it to the foreign press to have the real audio feed. Chris was definitely rattled, and then Will Smith actually won Best Actor for King Richard and apologized in an emotional acceptance speech.
I'm reminded of the stories about how all the celebrities prepare for the Academy Awards. Some go so far as to get colonics to clear out all the crap they have built up in their digestive system. As I noted in today's Be Wellthy newsletter, the average person can have over 15 pounds of impacted waste in the intestines. I think all that celebrity waste shouldn't be discarded. After all, it's famous. I think all that waste should be gathered and put into a body bag that can sit in a reserved seat during the ceremony. Maybe a presenter can explain what's in the bag at some point, and they can rig a line to the corner of the bag to bend in acknowledgment. The next day people would be talking about Oscar poop instead of Will Smith and Chris Rock.
