It's been six weeks since I've gotten something to work! That's a long damn time to not get anything to work, especially when one's getting paid. For six weeks I've felt at times like the most hard headed,
incompetent
newb. And at times I felt like
Dr. House
, investigating a mysterious patient, trying to make sense of it. An enigma.
I got into
programming
strictly because I wanted to setup my own
blog
. Back then I was more fixated on the aesthetics of websites and was wanting to make my own cool looking site, so I focused exclusively on
frontend
tools like
HTML
and
CSS
. Even
Javascript
back then was something that intimidated me.
However eventually I needed more and more functionality and I was soon working with the revered and also hated
Wordpress
.
Back then I could never imagine that someday I'd be helping figure out how to design a system that incorporates a
c++
program.
If you told the 'old me' that he would've laughed at you. He would've said that he was just getting into "coding" and that kind of programming stuff was not possible for him. But look at the times now. I now know how little I knew back then, and even back last
August
when I thought I had some good chops. But damn this job has been really kicking my ass and showing me all the things I don't know. The basic fundamentals I've failed to understand or even recognize. And that's priceless. It's also nice to be paid to get this kind of education. Can't figure out why I ever paid 80 grand for
college
!
