Georgie was in his living room watching youtube videos with his roommate Travis and coworker Marquis Friday evening. He had started a group chat with Roger and Grover and was about to give them a lift to Wesley Lachance's party with the hopes of getting Grover back his jersey. Roger had eagerly replied to Georgie's message and told him he'd meet him at the basketball court, but Grover had not yet responded.
"Hey do you guys wanna come to this party with me tonight?" Georgie asked his older friends.
"Who's throwing a party" Travis asked
"Sure, I'm down" Said Marquis as he took a drag from his blunt.
"You know that fight that happened between Lebron and Johnny Timberland the other week? Well this high school kid won the Timberland jersey. The one that had blood splattered splattered all over it. But some bully stole it and I'm gonna help him get it back."
"Why would I want to go to some high school party. Sounds terrible." Said Travis
"Yo, you are hilarious Gerogie". Laughed Marquis as he pulled up a video of the fight on the TV.
"So, we gonna jump this hipsta or what?" Said Marquis.
"Yeah, what kind of plan do you have? You haven't planned shit your entire life." Said Travis.
"Well I gotta a basic idea of what to do. I'll let Grover and and his buddy do their thing at the party and maybe they'll create some kind of distraction...And from there I'll wing it." Georgie said as he slipped on his jacket, come on Marquis?"
"Haha. You know what. Why don't we just take that Jersey for ourselves. I bet we could get mad cash for it." Said Marquis.
"Na" Said Georgie. "It belongs to this kid, Grover."
"How do you even know this kid. how old is he anyway?" Asked Travis
"I don't know. 14 maybe. He's Charlotte's little brother."
"Oh, now this all makes sense. You just want to impress Charlotte."
"this isn't about impressing anybody. This is about doing what's right. Someone's gotta stand up for the little guy in this town. And I'm the hero this place deserves." Said Georgie proudly.
"Who are you? Batman." Travis said as he rolled his eyes.
"Yo you ARE Batman, Georgie. And yours truly is gonna be your Robin tonight." Marquis said as he rolled back in his chair laughing and coughing up smoke.
Roger was seated on the curb, staring at the clouds as he waited for Georgie to arrive. He had told his host parents he was spending the night at Grover's and had told Grover to do the same but vice versa. Grover had been in a weird mood the past couple of days and hadn't responded to any of Roger's messages. Maybe he had been upset Roger had made fun of him the other day or maybe Grover didn't care at all about this jersey and had no interest in the party. Earlier Roger had just given up and resigned to the fact that he would spend another Friday evening playing scrabble with Mr. and Mrs. Cooley, his elderly host parents, but then Georgie, a cool older kid, had texted them saying he was going to pick them up. Well, maybe he didn't need Grover. Maybe the other kids at the party would think more highly of him if he showed up with just Georgie instead. Roger heard a honk and looked over at an old car pull up next to the basketball courts. His ride was here.
