Just finished watching the Ozark.
I am bummed it is over. One of the few shows I stumbled upon a few years ago and loved instantly. It someone reminds me of 'Breaking Bad'... but this time it is a whole family as opposed to just one man.
The dialogue and story line is very interesting.
My favorite character used to be Jonas the kid and Ruth. I liked the dad Marty at times and hated him at others... I absolutely hate the wife Wendy.
The last season felt stretched a bit. There were some scenes that were just pointless. The accident scene was so irrelevant. It reminded me of a few writing classes I took where they advice to start with a dramatic scene to keep the readers hooked. In Ozark, it literally had no purpose.
A few conversations and episodes were fillers but I assumed that COVID made it hard in general.
The ending for me was both rushed and abrupt. Reminded me of the ending of Sopranos. I had to look online to understand what happened and if the show was really over.
I enjoyed the show overall though not as much as I enjoyed 'Breaking Bad'. I think Ruth is a great actor and has a bright future in the industry. I hope more writers/producers create stories that explore the gray area of being good vs bad. It is important for all of us to realize just how easy it is to slip up.
