Comics and Stakeout college Netflix graphic novel boyfriend

I could finally understand why he had wanted to write a
graphic novel
back in
college
. They were like a
Netflix
show, but on paper. I thought of him while flipping through the pages, feeling the sheets against my fingers.

"I can feel what you said."

"That must mean it was real. Sometimes things transfer like that."

"Damn."

---

"But what will you do without me?"

"I would not be able to live with you. It would be but a performance."

"Aren't we performing all the time? Isn't life just a performance?"

"Some performances provide us satisfaction and joy. Others not."

She didn't ask whether he didn't like performing as her
boyfriend
.

It was a cool, quiet night. It was summer so the students were gone. But it had rained heavy yesterday. Judging by the air you'd think that it was fall. But it was indeed summer. She picked him up from his apartment just before nine. There was still some light out, but by the time they arrived at their stakeout location it was dark. He was caught off guard with how fast twilight turned to night. He thought about saying something but the look on her face made him think he ought to not say something so banal. He tried to think of something better to say.
