Function, Taste

Some guzzle the sludge

in order to be more "effective" at their job.

Some drink it

in order to simply stay awake.

Neither care so much for the quality

so long as it "works".

On the other side there are those who must "experience" coffee.

A simple pot of coffee in the breakroom cannot do.

They will research how the different people of the world drink their coffee

and they will try to make their own version that is superior.

They will share these drinks with others

hoping to share "enlightenment".

Sometimes they will want a pat on the back.

Hope may strike them, that they have found a new friend.

All through the sharing of their "superior" coffee.
Ha ha. Here's the thing with coffee, it contains caffeine which is a drug, one of the most addictive, along with heroin, nicotine, amphetamine etc. This addiction is what unites as all coffee drinkers. Now, since we need this coffee every day to function properly, we may turn as well make it into something we enjoy no ? Have you had a good creamy espresso ? Done with Ethiopian arabica freshly roasted, perfectly extracted ? It's like the elixir of life, the first sip you can feel all the flavors, then take a sip of water wait a bit and have another one. It arouses all your senses while making you alert immediately. I don't know if the caffeine kicks in so quickly, but the brain is definitely satisfied to get it's drug. Do this in the morning at 6 am while everyone else is sleeping, while looking over the window at the sunrise and the sky turning brighter while transitioning trough an entire palette of orange and blue .. it's a moment and the coffee plays a crucial rôle in it. Why not have the best ?

I used to grind my coffee and squeeze my espresso myself with a ROC hand espresso machine. Doing that every day would help me keep my coffee addiction in check actually. So yeah, to me it made sense.
