The Michael Jordan of...

A buddy of mine was over this weekend, and we started watching The Last Dance. I had already seen it, but my buddy, who is an NBA fan, said he'd only seen "bits and pieces."

Aside 1 - What exactly is the content consumption strategy that leads to seeing "bits and pieces" of something? I mean, if it's good content, just sit down and watch it and finish it. These are the people who will start a movie they've never seen before halfway through. Or they start watching a show halfway into the season without going back to the beginning. Who does that??

It is interesting how we have the phrase "The Michael Jordan of..." to denote someone who is the best in his field. People may quibble with the title, but MJ is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time.

Aside 2 - Gatorade produced commercials with a catchy jingle that implored people to "be like Mike." One of the lines, as quoted by Charles Barkley during the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, was this phrase: "Sometimes I dream that he is me." Why would you dream that? If you want to be like Mike, shouldn't you dream that YOU are HIM? And somehow, we say be like Mike even though everyone calls him Michael Jordan, and he hasn't gone by Mike Jordan since high school.

Is Tom Brady the Michael Jordan of NFL players? Or because he's Tom Brady, he's Tom Brady. Same with Tiger Woods? Does he still have the cache, or did he ruin his legacy with his shenanigans? That's about as much as I can speak to on sports.
Re Aside 1: I'm like you. if it's good i'm going to sit down and watch it. can't watch bits and pieces

Re Aside 2: lmao at the charles barkley inverse imagining. Also Like Mike just sounds better than Like Michael. It doesn't matter if he doesn't go by that name anymore lol

Tom Brady
also gets cited just not as much as MJ. Like i've heard people say, that someone is clutch like Brady. As in in the final moments they can pull of amazing victories. In a way from what you describe it sounds like you were the Tom Brady at your last client. And your last client Billichecked ya!

I got a few chuckles. I can't wait to see the context in which you use the Baz of...
