I went down a rabbit hole last night reading research about the benefits of laughter.
It turns out I didn’t have to and instead could’ve just read Mayo Clinic’s summary of the benefits of laughter on their website where they cite short-term benefits like increased endorphins, relaxed muscles, and a dampening of the body’s stress response.
And then there are long-term benefits they share like better immune function, pain relief, improved mood, and an improved ability to cope with difficult situations.
All this from doing something that is already enjoyable?
It should be a no-brainer for most people.
I promptly watched a comedy special before bed, had the best sleep I’ve had in a while, and woke up feeling amazing the next day.
All of this is to say, make it a point to not take yourself too seriously, to laugh often, and to enjoy your life — it’s important!
That’s it, that’s the reminder.
This seems like a good trick/hack to use occasionally but can't be sustinable can it?
I feel like the true value of laughter is not an acute HAHAHA laughter but rather the relation laughing has to quality relationships.
