The Man With Three Laptops 2020-12-22 13:46:45

I know it doesn't sound as cool as The Man With the Golden Gun. Nevertheless, I have become the guy who travels with three laptops.

The primary laptop is the MacBook Air of course. It is my primary writing tool, after all. By the way, the M1 processor is worth the hype. The two promises of speed and increased battery life have been fulfilled. I'm thinking this laptop should last me for a while (at least until the M2).

The other two laptops are for work. One laptop is the company laptop that I use to access my first client's system. It's a virtual log-in, so technically I should be able to use my MacBook, but I have been unable to get that to work. I weighed the hassle of dealing with the help desk vs bringing the laptop and laptop it is. The other laptop was issued by my second client, and it is the only way that I can access that client's system.

You might ask, "Why bring the work laptops if you are not planning to work?" It's true, I'm not planning to work. But as a consultant, I have to be prepared in case some five-alarm fire starts roaring. You never know when have to sign in for some reason. There might be some mandatory training I didn't know about that is due at the end of the year. I hope I don't have to sign in for either client, but I am able to if necessary. Actually, I hope I am on vacation long enough to forget my passwords.

The airport is a little different since the last time I traveled in March. All the restaurants are closed. There are decals on the floor telling you where to stand in line. There's plastic barriers everywhere. I realized that I am not used to keeping six feet away from people, and it appears other people are having the same issue. I am hoping for uneventful flights today with a safe arrival in North Carolina.

I guess i'm kind of boring, but the kind of novel I would like to read are the ones titled such as The Man with Three Laptops and they feature exactly a character like yourself just going through life until something happens. Seriously though this reads like an intro to a novel I'd like.

Feel like The Man with Three Laptops is a title that captures the same sentiments as Consultant Code . I like the former better because it intrigues me more. The latter feels more like a ClickFunnels or Online Course thing

Maybe I should have ended the piece with, "Little did I know that this travel day would be longer and more stressful than any workday, which has caused me to question whether I should have gone on vacation." Consultant Code makes me laugh because I've seen the FB ad where someone is hocking a course about how to "get clients."

lmao you need to charge overtime for the vacation-stress hours.

Lol you still go on FB? I thought you quit going on there.

I deleted Instagram. Facebook is where I get the most traffic for my newsletter, so I'm still stuck there for a bit.
