Experiment

In order to improve my health, I have decided to experiment. I tried to think back to what I did and when my body responded in a negative way.

I have been doing intermittent fasting for some time. I always skip breakfast and sometimes just do dinner. A few issues started at the point but I assumed it was my body adjusting to something new. Some of my readings cautions against fasting for certain groups but I didn't pay attention to that.

Now that I am trying to figure out how to reset my health, I have decided to eat 3 times a day. Though my breakfast will be very light - less than 6g of carb... I am going to make a habit of eating a specific times and around the same amount of carbs and calories as well. I will always eat low carb but I have decided to get away from the high fat keto versions. I used to take about 2 cups of tea or coffee with heavy cream daily that helped me with the intermittent fasting. So now, it is a much simpler diet and I have eliminated a lot of things.

List of things eliminated:
1. Heavy cream and dairy in general
2. Coffee
3. Beef/Chicken (This is more of a preference - I don't like meat anymore.)
4. Caffeine
5. Soda (Wasn't consuming this much even before but I am avoiding it completely now)
6. Gluten based foods

So far, these decisions haven't been difficult. As long as I am not dining out, it is easy to maintain this and I am going to see how my body responds to all this.
I like this experiment. You have hit on a key idea, which is selecting food based on how you feel. Most people are taste first and then deal with the rest later.

, I think this is great and I'm curious to see how you feel after making these adjustments. One book that really helped guide my own personal experimentation on diet/energy/mood is 'How Not to Die' by Michael Greger (https://www.amazon.com/How-Not-Die-Discover-Scientifically/dp/1250066115#:~:text=%22How%20Not%20To%20Die%20is,vitality%20untilwe%20are%20past%20100.).

I was surprised to learn about certain foods and categories of foods (e.g. diary) can cause chronic low grade inflammation which has cascading effects on multiple dimensions of physical/mental well-being.
