The Club Permit Administrator

A scheme designed to support car club members with discounted registration for historic cars doesn't come with a few overheads especially if you are the guy in the club who administers the scheme.

The Club Permit scheme provides a discount on registration of up to 80%, allowing club members to drive their historic vehicle on the road for up to 90 days per year. To qualify as a historic vehicle, it needs to be over 25 years old, be in good working order, and the owner must be a member of a car club. And that is where the Club Permit Administrator comes in.

In the Zoom-Zoom club, I am the Club Permit Administrator, and it is my job to check that the member and their car meet the scheme's criteria. Ensuring that the vehicle is safe, old enough to be considered historic and whether the owner is a club member is on the list of things I need to check off.

Once I have checked that everything is in order, then and only then do I put my signature on the registration form. Without my mark, the member won't be able to get their cheaper registration.

There is no graft or corruption here. I follow the rules to the letter, and any member who wants to try to defraud the scheme will not get past me.
Her: "Did you get the discounted registration permit for that beater of yours?"
Him: "Nah, they got that effin Dannock up in there."
Her: "Just tell him it's older."
Him: "He'll check."
Her: "For fuck sake."
