Reading

This month, I got back to reading books.
When I say reading, I mean listening to audible. It has been a while since I read a physical book. Audible seems ideal right now - with driving, cleaning up, cooking and working out. I particularly like to listen for about 30 minutes right before sleep. It puts me in the frame of mind that I want to be in for a good nights rest.

I am on my fourth book this month. And I didn't set out to read any specific number of books. I just wanted to do what I like to do and enjoy the process. One of the book I read was fiction. I don't remember when I bought it and why but I loved it. I love when I find myself wishing that a book doesn't end soon - like I do with good movies. That to me is an example of excellent writing.

The last book I finished was a form of podcast/interview by Ester Perel called - 'he Arc of Love'. I started it the day before and I was up until 2 am yesterday cause I couldn't stop listening. It was a new format of audible where Ester is sharing a therapy session with 5 couples (one was mother and daughter) as they discuss their relationships. I felt like I was eavesdropping on conversations I would never have access to. I recently wrote a post about how I was curious about therapy and conversations that occur there. This book was an answer to that post.

I learnt so much from that short audiobook. It is amazing how much we are impacted by things that occur when we were kids. Our relationships with our parents, their relationships with each other, relationships between siblings and similar things impact us later in life. I can't do the audible much justice so I will leave it there. For anyone interested in psychology and especially therapy - it is a gift.

May is helping me enjoy books of different types. Also making me realize that I love reading in addition to cooking and writing, Self-discovery month of the year.
I'm glad you have rediscovered the joy of listening/reading, though I can't condone staying up until 2 AM...

Yeah I didn't plan to but the topic was so fascinating that I kept listening until the book was done. And still stayed up thinking about the content. Few books make me misbehave like that.
