AI

Yesterday I saw a video on tik tok. A guy created a children's book using 2 types of AI tools. One to create the story and another to create the graphics. He uploaded it to Amazon KDP and is selling it for $8. Everything was done in a weekend.

Apparently there was an entire twitter storm accusing the guy of a lack of creativity. There were some really angry messages targeting this person.

I don't understand the anger. All of these AI tools are there to automate and simplify the tedious tasks. I agree that creativity is not the same from a human being versus a machine but what is the issue with getting some ideas.

Usually when I am trying to write something, I spend a lot of time researching. Getting ideas from online sources before I write my own piece. AI is just making that process faster.

I agree that there needs to be some type of law against using AI to imitate an actual person to make money. I actually saw a video of Jordon Peterson accusing FIFA of fraud. It was an AI generated video. I think that type of stuff is dangerous.

We are going into a whole new world with AI tools like ChatGPT. What does this mean for writers like us?
I saw the book, it's quite crappy if you ask me, I wouldn't put that in a kids hands. The aesthetic and narrative glitches are quite unsetting for a young mind. I've read trough that thread of hateful comments, the disproval is justified but most people don't even know why they are so pissed off.

It's a missed opportunity I think to have a kids book generated by an AI. Details matter, a hand with 6 fingers or a leg vanishing under the desk or appearing at the wrong place is a big deal for a kid.

I didn't look at the book. But I agree that making it age appropriate is a big deal. I see these things as tools. Use them to get started and then finesse the product before putting it to market.
