There was a cafe in the middle of the . No on the inside. And none in the back entrance. Big Joe knew this because he knew the owner. The owner didn't know him back. If he had, then this wouldn't work as an Alibi. No. James and Big Joe had to be a ghost in there.
Go in. After being seen by the CCTV. Go out the backdoor. And then be caught on CCTV again when leaving from the frontdoor. Officially, on paper, Big Joe and James would've had a long conversation over a few drinks inside. In reality they went out the back, found a car waiting for them in the alley. Drive over to Butch's. Do the job.
The guy who owned the cafe. Big Joe went to high school with him. He followed his rants on Facebook. Wasn't friends with him though. Guy was a big privacy nut. Didn't believe in cameras. Was resistant to accepting credit cards when that first became a thing.
James at the cafe wanted to get a sandwich. Big Joe shook his head. Later on, in the car. Driving back home.
"The cameras. They would've made you look like a man who had just eaten a sandwich. Now that's fine. But I can't promise that our story would fit in with the alibi. Who knows. Maybe they'd be able to tell you had the sandwich after having done something more arduous then sitting at a cafe the whole time. Also we were running low on time. It would've looked suspicious if they were to calculate the time we spent in there."
James responded with agreeableness.
"I know a good place." Big Joe said. James didn't know what he was talking about.
"Diner. We can get some grub."
