"That will be just a dollar. Well dollar six with that tax."
"Here ya go, keep the change."
Derek handed the guy a five dollar bill.
"Oh wow, thank you, thank you kindly. Lids and stuff are over there."
The waiter pointed to a small area kind of near the exit. It had lids of various sizes, as well as sugars of different kinds. Derek didn't usually put anything in his coffee, he didn't even use a lid, preferring his coffee to cool rapidly, but for some reason still went over there. Looked around, he liked how they were all organized. He grabbed a brown sugar, something made him interested in it. He needed something different.
He looked around.
"How long you guys open for?"
" 24/7 365" The guy behind the counter said.
"Cool. Cool. " Derek replied sinking into a chair by a window, his back to a wall watching the door. He took out his brief case, and just let it sit next to him. He didn't like just diving into something. Had to drink some coffee before. Had to think about nothing first, then he could fill his mind with the case, devour it whole.
