Marc lived in a brick building on the third floor. You could enter in the stairwell without a key, but then it was locked as they got upstairs. In the hallway there was four other doors, but it was only three. So they couldn't really knock could they?
Elena knocked on Marc's no answer. Kevin then arrived up the stairs.
"You sure that's his?"
"I think so yeah." She knocked again this time with her fist, making a sort of bump bump bump sound.
There was no movement, the heating on the building must have been turned way up, because they were both sweating.
"Did you try the door?" Kevin said.
She jiggled the handle and the door gave way.
"What the fuck, who leaves their door open." Kevin said.
"Shhh." Elena replied.
They walked around half expecting something to jump out, but they didn't find anyone, not a soul.
There were two rooms, the bedroom and the bathroom the rest was like a sort of kitchen living room dining room thing.
It was sparsely decorated. There were a few pictures, a kid.
"I told you he had kids."
"Shh" Elena replied still not feeling right.
She whispered, "Something feels off."
