"And what do you do?"
"With my gun?"
The detective paused.
"Sure, but first more in general. Like for work."
"Im a chef, or more of a cook in a small cafe, like a roadside bar you know. We're famous for our egg omlettes... We use a lot of eggs."
"Hmm, and your gun?"
"Locked up, and away. Got a kid now so you know."
"Hmm." The detective said as he scribbled some things down.
"When was the last time you saw." He stopped for a second, and flipped back in his notebook. "Kevin?"
"It was. Jeez. Uh. Like at our friends party, like sort of bachelor. But we didn't get to chat, just gave each other a hug, he seemed like he was doing well though. He's not involved in anything like. You know, a straight shooter."
"Hmm" The detective wrote more down.
"You think anyone would be out for him?"
"Kevin no, he's the nicest dude. Like this one time, man this had to be years ago, he drove an hour in the snow just to get a coffee with me. Said he was in town. No fucking way he was there."
"Like he's like on of those guys always got something nice to say about everyone, I don't think he's ever had an enemy. Or if he did he would just say "Yeah but he's got a hard life" You know? Like one of those guys."
"Hmm." The detective continued writing.
" I remember one time he saw a homeless guy, we all walked past him, Kevin stopped and gave him ten bucks, out of no where, you know we just college kids, 10 bucks was like two maybe three meals, definitely three beers, and he just said "It all comes back guys don't worry.""
"Hmm, okay." The detective said, and paused again looking at his partner. "
I think thats all we need. Thank you for your time"
"Don't mention it."
Joey wondered in the funeral home, got a coffee and sat down. None of the other guys were there.
"With my gun?"
The detective paused.
