funeral home detective guns

as reply to Some Questions

The man was obviously a detective. Joey could tell by his demeanor. His emotions weren't shook like the rest of the folk. No. He was here strictly on business.

"I'd rather not."

The man pulled out a badge.

"That's completely fine. But it would help us maybe figure out what happened. We actually don't know who the perpetrator was."

Joey gave a look of surprise.

"Really? Small town like this?"

"We think it was a random shooting. Something out of the blue, Unplanned. It's hard to pin those down unless you get the suspect on site. Or close to."

"Mm. Makes sense. I'll answer your questions. But I have to be upfront. I haven't seen Kevin in a long time. And I haven't really talked to him much in years."

"That's okay. We're trying to get as much information as we can. From everyone."

The
detective
looked around. "Well anyone willing to and able to talk that is."

There was no food. Drinks. Coffee and water. Juice. People didn't have an appetite at these events. The older people were dressed in shirts and jackets. The younger crowd only had tucked in collared shirts. Almost everybody was white. In fact, everybody was white. Except for the detective who was black.

"Did you know that Kevin had a gun on him? Do you remember him to be someone who carried a gun?"

"He wasn't actually. We got our first
guns
together when I turned 21. But he never carried it around."

"Mm."
