It Down

as reply to the kid is worried

She never liked the smoking. Always complained to management. Would get a sarcastic respponse like "What else are people going to do on breaks?". But she didn't like it.

She had some kind of deal with the hotel owner, like she just worked mornings. 6-11. Then she left. She liked it that way, preferred it. Didn't have to deal with the smokers, didn't have to deal with late check outs, didn't have to deal with the early check ins it was perfect. Most of the time it was silent, most of her shift you didn't need a person at the desk, but she did other things to keep herself busy.

She'd arrange the pamphlets, which she thought one of the smokers would mess up. Change around or something. She hated them, always outside talking. The three men. Their friend came. She liked the kid, more clean shaven, but the other guy was too old to be working in a hotel.

He should have made something with his life by now. She didn't like that about him. It was like an unread book. Lots of potential, but nothing there.

She hated him, so much she never learned his name.

But she saw everything he did, and she wrote it down.
