Chubbs did not stay long. There was very little to talk about. BAKA didn't allude to the fact that he was thinking about running away. He gave a simple reason for why Chris from the pizzeria was still alive.
"I'm scoping the place out. He looks... connected."
Chubbs raised a brow.
"Like he might be mafia. dont' want this coming back on us."
Chubbs nodded. Didn't seem convinced but said nothing further.
After Chubbs left BAKA sat on the bed again and sighed.
He didn't know if he would do it. The hit. Or run.
But he knew one thing. He would shave his beard. Then he could do either better. Chris would recognize him less. If he ran, then his former employers would have more difficulty finding him.
-----
Marc Love stopped shaving. He let the pubic like facial hair grow out in sprouts. The girl McKayla didn't seem to mind though. She liked him even with the unaeathetic look. Probably helped that he could understand her deeply because of the mind connection.
This was the first time Marc went without his normal shaving routine. It was weird. He would run his fingers through the sparse hair multiple times each hour. A weird feeling he thought.
He still felt what Imogen was going through out west. Every once in a while a jolt of anxiety would travel from west to east. Sometimes he would shutter and McKayla would ask what's wrong.
He never lied. He would tell her something. But he would explain that he couldn't explain. She would nod. "that's okay."
