That day felt colder than others. McKayla turned her car on from her house ten minutes before she left, and it still wasn't warm.
It made a sound too, hinting at her that maybe it was time to take it to the shop. She couldn't believe it. The rust around the wheels seemed to have grown, and all the mirrors seemed dirty.
What some people might do was to roll up their sleeves and clean the car. What she felt like though was doing nothing. Letting the car slowly roll into non-existence. She wondered if she never stopped driving it would it just turn to dust.
The shop also seemed less beautiful. It seemed less bright, the previous glow she used to feel from the window looking out was gone. The light didn't seem bright enough. Or when she turned them on too bright.
"Maybe you need a vacation." One of the other girls said.
A thought like this had never occurred to McKayla.
"People need vitamin D, your a person, maybe just go south."
McKayla imagined herself on a beach. She could already feel a sunburn.
"Wha, uh where would I go?"
"I don't know like Florida or something? Any place but here."
