“We have to leave. You know get out of here.”
Suddenly Max realised his car hand been there for two nights three days. They had been everywhere. The hospital the police station the morgue. She didn’t have much family, Johnny had said. So they tried some numbers in her phone. But no one picked up.
They used her finger at the morgue to open her phone. Johnny thought of it, but part of Max felt weird. He felt bad felt like he was doing something wrong.
Johnny was more practical the nights at the hospital had made him care less about dead people, Max thought.
“Can we go to yours?” Johnny asked. “I just feel weird being here you know. It’s all so fucked up.”
Max felt bad at these words like he had caused it, another voice in his head reassured him that he didn’t. But it still stuck with him.
It all felt staged to him, like a weird play or something. It all was just too real, it was so real it was fake.
“Sure.”
He looked at his phone his car was still there.
“Let me just go get my car. Do you want to come?”
